8 Best Gaming Laptop for 2021

1. Razer Blade 15

The best of the best!

The new Razer Blade 15 upgrade improves once again and places it as one of the best laptops ever built. It has one of the newest Nvidia RTX 30-series GPUs and one of Intel’s X gen CPUs and has the same beautiful CNC-mill aluminum design as its forerunner.

We tested the 300Hz display, the Octa-core CPU, and RTX 2080 Super Max-q graphics silicone in the Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition recently. And again, we fell in love with it. The new graphics versions are further up in quality and supported by up to an RTX 3080 Max-Q, which in this compact and portable chassis is unbelievable.

The number of variations and configurations Razer gives is one of the great things about the Blade 15. It offers something for about everyone, from the GTX 1660 Ti Base Edition up to the RTX 3080 Advanced with OLED 4K panel. It is one of the prettiest and still strongest gaming laptops around.

Regardless of the setup that you choose, we believe that the Razer Blade 15 is now the most popular laptop in the market.

The Razer Blade 15 comes with the following specs:

  • Battery: 80 Wh
  • CPU: 10th Gen Intel Core i7
  • Dimensions: 9.25 x 13.98 x 0.78 inches
  • GPU: Up to Nvidia RTX 3080 Max-Q

  • Storage: Up to 1TB SSD
  • Weight: 4.63 lbs

However, you can follow our favorite setup for this laptop, given below:

Razer Blade 15 Base Edition | RTX 3070 | $1,999.99 at Razer.com | 6-core intel i7 RTX 3070

The RTX3080, the big bad boy, can of course be used, but the Nvidia RTX 3070 offers fantastic framework speeds in this slim design, especially with the natural 1080p resolution of 144Hz display. 512GB NVMe SSD and 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM are also available.

The important things you need to know while buying this machine are:

  • The quality of the laptop is unparalleled
  • Availability of CPU/GPU configurations in a wide range
  • Looks good, performs better!
  • Reliable battery life
  • The RTX 3080 is not fast enough
  • The trackpad can get finicky at times

2. Dell G3 15

The best battery-friendly laptop for the money!

Let’s own it, it can be a hard job when you try to look for a quality budget gaming laptop. In attributes such as efficiency, architecture, and even standby time, you have to compromise needlessly. Quite fortunately, the Dell G3 15 provides solid 1080P gaming for less than $1,000! Also, it has a strong and reliable battery.

The slimmer and more streamlined version is the most visible improvement compared to its previous edition. The smarter style gives it a higher-end aura along with narrower bezels around a 144 Hz monitor. It’s a friendly, toned-down design. This laptop doesn’t even look like a gaming laptop, but it is.

The factory-fitted specs of this laptop include:

  • Battery: 51 Wh
  • CPU: Up to 10th Gen Intel Core i7
  • Dimensions: 85 x 14.4 x 10 inches
  • GPU: Up to Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Screen: 6-inch Full HD IPS 144 Hz
  • Storage: 512GB SSD
  • Weight: 40 lbs

In terms of gaming, the configuration listed below is the best fit for this laptop.

Dell G3 15 | Intel Core i5 | Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti | $750.59 at Dell.com

You can most certainly get the superior GTX 1650 Ti GPU for just a little more than the cheapest $699 configuration. It isn’t the most dominant GPU, but it’s cheap and also has solid 1080p frame rates. The 256GB SSD and RAM are a little disappointing, but the 120Hz display is Gucci, and the price is ideal! The only drawback appears to be the monitor itself, which is not as full of colors as the other gaming laptops that are included in this list.

Keep in mind the following points while opting for this beast:

  • Possibilities for an economical gaming setup
  • The battery life is good
  • The laptop is powerful
  • It may sometimes get a bit chunky though

3. Asus TUF Gaming A15

So, you’re looking for something mid-range, eh?

Asus TUF Gaming A15 as of last year remained amongst the most popular portable gaming devices, particularly thanks to the AMD 8-core Ryzen 7 4800H APU. Throw the graphics into the powerful 1 TB NVMe SSD and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, and you’ll have a heavy hitter for gaming.

In our analysis, TUF Gaming A15 was mentioned as an unbelievably powerful, but cheap laptop for gaming, with almost unparalleled battery life at this price tag or performance tier.

The only minor drawback is the cost, particularly when the $999 RTX 2060 is available in the market. Otherwise, the output of the TUF Gaming A15, CPU power, and battery capacity make it a fantastic laptop for working and gaming alike.

A new variant of the TUF Gaming A15 (2021) was recently launched, but it has not reached the peak like its previous model. Components are running heavy, and the laptop even gets unbelievably noisy while running the games. The older version still frequently saves money, so we would suggest you opt for one of those.

This laptop’s factory-installed specifications are as follows:

  • Battery: 90 Wh
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H
  • Dimensions: 1 x 10.1 x 1 inch
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4-2666
  • Screen: 6-inch Full HD IPS 144 Hz
  • Storage: 1TB M.2 NVMe.
  • Weight: 07 lbs

The best configuration that you can get for this laptop, in our opinion, is:

Asus TUF Gaming A15 | AMD Ryzen 4800H | RTX 2060 | $1,249 at Amazon.com

The AMD CPU with eight-core, 16-thread chips still is an unbelievable processor, and also the RTX 2060 is indeed a solid 1080p GPU. GTX 1660 Ti laptops normally cost much more than this and also, they do not have a fast recovery rate or a 1TB memory space.

If you are about to buy this laptop, here are some things for you to consider:

  • It has an 8-core AMD APUIt
  • It comes with a 90 Wh battery
  • It has a 144 Hz FHD display
  • Gritty design
  • It gets loud and boils up while gaming

4. Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

An elite class gaming laptop!

You might purchase a far more compliant gaming laptop than this one, but there’s something that really is extremely enticing about the excesses of the Strix ROG Scar 17 G733. It looks like Asus has enchanted this machine with their secret beast spell: from the overclocked CPU—as stunning as it is—to the magnificent 360 Hz display. Wow, Asus really wants to be at the top of our list we suppose.

As well, above all, thanks to the GeForce RTX 3080, which can be found at the core of the finest gaming laptops it offers. This is Nvidia’s top 115W Ampere GPU edition, meaning that it can only be a dream to reach that kind of score for the laptops that are thinner. You can use Nvidia’s outstanding DLSS to help you achieve ludicrous frame rates as well.

The 17-inch frame ensures that the parts have a little more breathing room compared to the competitors, and along with the outstanding cooling system, a cool and silent rendering of games is what you will achieve by buying this laptop. This additional space has also made it possible for Asus to cram the optomechanical keyboard into the Scar 17.

Check out the default specs for this laptop:

  • Battery: 90 WH.
  • CPU: UP to AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX
  • Dimensions: 1 x 15.55 x 0.92 inches
  • GPU: Up to Nvidia RTX 3080
  • RAM: Up to 32GB DDR4-3200
  • Screen: 3-inch Full HD 360Hz or 165Hz WQHD
  • Storage: Up to 2x 1TB M.2 SSD
  • Weight: 95 lbs

Our favorite setup for this laptop is:

Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 | Ryzen 9 5900HX | RTX 3080 | will cost you about 3,000 bucks

You don’t get a lot better than this desktop beast. With the Ryzen 9 5900HX and GeForce RTX 3080 overclocked and an extremely high power core, this is portable gaming bliss, hooked up to a 360Hz 1080p monitor. Yes, it’s costly, but it’s a top-notch gaming setup – a head-turner, of course.

Also, the points that we noted for this laptop are:

  • Ordinary but not grotesque
  • The keyboard is optomechanical
  • Silent cooling
  • The amazing pace of screen refresh
  • Great battery
  • The screen is 17-inch wide

5. MSI GS66 Stealth

Up your game with style!

The MSI GS66 is a compact, sleek and efficient laptop. But without compromise, it’s not Nvidia Ampere power. MSI has had to be a little parsimonious about its strength requirements to pack anything that is as powerful as an RTX 3080 in an 18mm thin chassis.

The upper edge GPU is the 95W release, which ensures that only the RTX 3070, which you find in Gigabyte Aorus 15G XC, is out there without a leash. However, it is already an amazingly strong part of portable silicon graphics.

If this laptop was left with its own default specs, it might get a little noisy, but luckily all the Nvidia MaxQ 3.0 features are available for you. This includes Whisper Mode 2.0, which means that you know when you want to be stealthy, gameplay gets down to hardly audible standards.

The GS66 also features a superb 240Hz 1440p screen, well suited for games that need a powerful GPU. Of course, in contrast with the RTX 3080, which you might find on a hulking workstation, you have to make some compromises on raw frame rates, but the MSI GS66 Stealth is a truly slim laptop for gaming.

The MSI GS66 Stealth laptop has the following default configuration:

  • Battery: 9 Wh.
  • CPU: Up to Core i9 10980HK
  • Dimensions: 65 x 14.17 x 0.71 inches
  • GPU: Up to Nvidia RTX 3080
  • RAM: Up to 32GB DDR4-3200
  • Screen: 6-inch Full HD 240Hz or 300Hz
  • Storage: Up to 2TB M.2 SSD
  • Weight: 63 lbs

The best configuration in our opinion:

MSI GS66 Stealth | Intel i7 | RTX 3070 | will cost you about 2,399.99 bucks

It’s a big laptop for a big hump of money, There’s no running free from it. The RTX 3070 is an excellent GPU for gaming, and you can get the most from its 300Hz 1080p screen. The Max-Q 3.0 features suggest that a 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD are fast and smooth for this lightweight gaming laptop.

This laptop features the following attributes:

  • It is powerful and sleek
  • The battery life is strong
  • 1440p resolution is en-route
  • It may get noisy while performing
  • The slim design may compromise the frame rates per second

6. Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

The raw processing power is packed in a gorgeous design!

Not everybody needs the slimmest or strong-looking laptop. Lightweight and being quick are often perfect. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, an RTX 2060 Max-Q notebook with exceptional CPU capacity, impressed our dedicated Hardware Tester team at our top-secret PC-Gamer laboratory, striking a good balance between portability, efficiency, and cost.

The G14 is a fantastic laptop, particularly as Metro Exodus can be pushed at the highest levels with a ray-tracing rate of 40fps average. Considering the top-tier graphics, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a 14-inch reputable brand which also offers a decent competition to other gaming desktops.

The official configuration of this laptop is:

  • Battery: 75 Wh.
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS
  • Dimensions: 76 x 8.74 x 0.70 inches
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4-3200
  • Screen: 14-inch Full HD IPS 120 Hz
  • Storage: 1TB SSD NV-Me PCI-e 3.0
  • Weight: 53 lbs

However, this is how we would suggest you equip your laptop:

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 | Ryzen 9 4900HS | RTX 2060 | you’ll need to spend 1,330 bucks

The Ryzen 9 4900HS and RTX 2060 combination provide a great gaming laptop, which also has a lot of capacity in terms of a crude CPU. You’ll have 16GB of RAM along with 1TB of memory to store your games – all this in a sleek and smart-looking design.

Moreover, keep these points in mind while opting for this one:

  • Unparalleled CPU performance
  • Vibrant and beautiful screen
  • Sleek design
  • It might look a little plastic-ish
  • A bit expensive for a laptop that offers only 1080p gaming
  • It might get noisy if you push it to the maximum capacity

7. Gigabyte Aorus 15G XC

Welcome to the RTX 3070’s playground!

The Gigabyte Aorus G15 XC has much to like with just a few points that prevent it from being the perfect gaming laptop. In any aspect, the camera is practically awful, to the extent that we wonder if the laptop will be fine without it. The life of the battery is also not up to the mark, so, whether you want to watch movies or want to do your work far off from a power outlet, you’ll not get much from it.

The main concern is: Is there anything good about the Gigabyte Aorus 15G in regards to gaming? The brief response is yes. This is indeed a solid player. The fact that Gigabyte opted to stick with a 1080p screen means that it is able to achieve smooth frame rates in all recent titles, while it will be lagging behind the machines loaded with the RTX 3080. This is precisely what you must hear as you spend $1,800 on a laptop for gaming. You will have a top-notch gaming experience with this beast in even the maximized settings.

It’s certainly not as aesthetically appealing as other computers, but the chassis does not hold this beast either. But, in the end, this computer should be assessed on its gaming capacity, and here a certain thumbs-up is given. While a 3080 RTX processor will achieve higher frame rates, a device of this kind would certainly cost a lot more than $1800.

The original settings for this laptop are:

  • Battery: 99 Wh.
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 10870H
  • Dimensions: 0 x 9.6 x 0.9 inches
  • GPU: Up to Nvidia RTX 3080
  • RAM: Up to 32GB DDR4-3200
  • Screen: 6-inch Full HD IPS 240 Hz
  • Storage: 1TB PCI-e NVM-e SSD
  • Weight: 4 lbs

Here’s our suggested configuration:

Gigabyte Aorus 15G XC | Intel i7 | RTX 3070 | $1,799.99

It is somewhat easy to bag an RTX 3070 laptop for well less than 2,000 bucks, but it can be shockingly hard too. The Aorus 15G is nevertheless cost-effective and features an excellent 240hz interface, which gives the strong Ampere GPU space to work its magic. The SSD 512GB and RAM 32GB are also not that bad.

Also, the notable facts about this machine are:

  • 240 Hz vibrant display
  • Average battery life
  • Don’t look awesome
  • It has a great game performance and runs quietly
  • The positioning of the Webcam is awful

8. Acer Predator Helios 300

An affordable gaming laptop that defines quality!

During the GTX 10-series age, we liked Acer’s Predator Helios 300 and the new Helios generation can still box beyond their weight class relative to other $1.500 laptops. Maybe it’s not the perfect laptop for gaming, but it’s one of the best performance devices. Helios 2020 has an RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU and a sleeker shape factor without greatly increasing prices.

The modern and upgraded Helios 300, with a 240 Hz IPS screen and thinner bezels, is more in sync with the smart thin and lighting than its bulkier brothers from the previous decade. The only possible disadvantage is the smaller SSD, but the computer itself has 2x SSD and an HDD slot that makes it convenient to upgrade your storage.

This laptop offers:

  • Good performance for its price tag
  • Battery life is decent
  • Dual memory space
  • The CPU performance is average

The default configuration of this laptop is:

  • Battery: 3720 m-Ah.
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 10750H
  • Dimensions: 01 x 14.23 x 0.9 inch
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4-2666
  • Screen: 6-inch Full HD IPS 240 Hz
  • Storage: 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD
  • Weight: 51 lbs

Final Thoughts

The biggest advantage of gaming laptops is that they have enough capacity for technical activities such as video rendering or CAD jobs. Since they may be costly, it might be worthwhile to consider purchasing a computer that can double as both a gaming as well as a professional laptop. Computers such as the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 or the Razer Blade Pro 17 are strong proponents of this, with a sleek design that is compact enough to take to work but still have a strong enough configuration for top-tier gaming. Lastly, we hope that this list provides you with the best gaming laptop that you’ve longed for!
